T he funeral home was established and has operated continuingly since the early 1920s. It was first, Summers and Gwinn Funeral Home, then in 1926 it became Neale and Summers Funeral Home. It became Davis Undertaking,in 1927 and in 1943, became Church and Neale Funeral Home. They moved to its present location in 1945. John and Geneva Cantlon purchased the Funeral Home in 1949, and operated it for nearly twenty years. Doyle and Richard Brumback, along with their wives, Beth and Judy, purchased the funeral home in1968, and it has been operated by Richard and Judy Brumback since 1983.

We are continuing the caring service that people had received from our predecessors, and we are constantly trying to improve services to our families.

To Our Valued Customers, Friends and Family,

As you have been seeing on the news, a mix-up has occurred at the Springfield Mortuary, and unfortunately it involved a lady that our funeral home had been contacted to bury. On July 26 2014, I was at Springfield Mortuary Service between 9:00 and 10:00 AM to receive the individual. When I arrived, the outer door was closed as usual. At that point I honked my horn to enter. After driving in, I then went to the office to pay for the hospital pick up they had made for me. After returning to my car, the body was at the back of the car ready to put in the car. I then looked on the bag the body was in, and the name was correct. I returned to my funeral home and prepared the body for burial according to my instruction.

We moved to Hickory Grove for a graveside service.

When I was at the mortuary service I only seen one body, the one given to me by a female who was on duty in the drive through. I was not aware of a mix-up until a letter was given to the State Board. Even at that point, given historical background, it was hard to believe.

I have not had any part in happenings after that.
